Verisity Announces Book on e by Renowned Industry Author; "Design Verification with e" Details the Market-Leading e Verification Language
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 2, 2003--Verisity
Ltd. (Nasdaq:VRST), the leading supplier of essential technology and
methodology for functional verification, and Prentice Hall PTR today
announced a new forthcoming book for verification engineers, "Design
Verification with e," by Samir Palnitkar (Prentice Hall PTR, 2004,
ISBN 0-13-141309-0). The new book, which will publish in August 2003,
details a broad range of e-based topics including modeling,
constraint-driven test generation, functional coverage and assertion
checking giving the reader a global understanding of verification with
the e language.
The e verification language was developed by Verisity to drive the
Company's market-leading Specman Elite(R) testbench automation
solution. As Specman Elite gained significant market momentum,
Verisity began the process of making e an industry standard in 2000
when it created the LicenseE program to enable third parties to openly
access the e verification language. In related news, Verisity also
announced today that the Design Automation Standards Committee (DASC)
of the IEEE has approved a project proposal from the IEEE Verification
Language Study Group (VLSG) to standardize the e verification language
(see related release "IEEE's DASC Approves Verisity's e Verification
Language As Basis For Industry Standardization Project," dated June 2,
2003).
"Verification is so critical to the success of electronic designs
that a book detailing the leading verification language and
methodology was long overdue," said Samir Palnitkar, author of "Design
Verification with e." "I hope that this book proves to be a valuable
reference tool for verification engineers and helps them in their
development of verification environments today, as well as giving them
useful tips for their environments tomorrow."
The author, Samir Palnitkar, is recognized as an innovator and
expert in the field of verification. Palnitkar is already a successful
author, having published an authoritative guide on the Verilog
hardware description language, titled "Verilog HDL: A Guide to Digital
Design and Synthesis, Second Edition," (Prentice Hall PTR, 2003, ISBN
0130449113). Palnitkar is president of Jambo Systems, Inc., an ASIC
design firm specializing in high-speed processors and network chips.
Prior to Jambo, Palnitkar was founder and vice president of business
operations at Obongo, Inc., and electronic commerce company that was
acquired by AOL Time Warner, Inc. He was also founder and president of
I2P, Inc. a multi-million dollar semiconductor design and services
company that was acquired by Lattice Semiconductor, Inc. Palnitkar has
also held key management positions at Sun Microsystems and Hitachi.
"Samir deftly defines the e language and provides informative,
educational and useful knowledge of the e language and verification
methodology," said Yoav Hollander, founder and chief technical officer
for Verisity. "Samir's book couldn't come at a better time, as the e
language makes its way toward industry standardization. This book is a
must have for any verification engineer today."
"As verification becomes widely recognized as a mission critical
problem for electronics companies, Prentice Hall PTR is responding by
providing this book that details the widely used e verification
language," said Bernard Goodwin, Publisher & vice president for
Prentice Hall PTR. "Samir's expertise in verification and his previous
success as an author lend considerable credibility to this
authoritative book."
